Curriculum Vitae Milan Kuzica (November 12, 1962, Martin, Slovakia, lives and works in Prague, Czech Republic) sculptor, painter, graphic designer and designer He studied shaping and design at the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Kremnica. He studied privately with Jozef Kostka. In 1991 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava at the Department of Design under Peter Paliatka and the Department of Sculpture under Juraj Meliš. A year later he completed his studies at Comenius University in Bratislava. He has been teaching in the years 1996 - 1997 at TAFE University Perth and at the High School of Design Claremont - Perth in Australia. He also attended a one-year sculpture internship at Greg James Sculptor Studio. He is the director of the art section of The Czech North American Chamber of Commerce & Culture Inc. He is a member of the Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences / SVU in New York. Since 1997 he has been living and working in Prague. He worked in artistic, industrial and graphic design. Recently, he has focused mainly on his free sculpture. He is represented in private collections in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and abroad. He has exhibited in Slovakia, Belgium, Holland, Australia and USA. The works of Milan Kuzica seem to divide according to their form into neorealistic and abstract, but both streams always express existential questions and problematic interpersonal relationships with the environment that creates a person when they deform. In his sculptural work he uses classical techniques such as casting into bronze, but he also works with his own developed materials and technologies. He called one of his techniques "inorganicbio", which he achieved by combining natural-metamorphic shapes with artificially constructed sculpture body and intensive artificial colors. The contrast of natural elements with inanimate technologies and machined appearance, often denying the inner reality, expresses the functioning of the contemporary world in which we are surrounded and often unable to perceive it. This is true, for example, of Kuzic's signal color scale, which does not seem to occur in nature. In reality, however, the author uncovers the invisible world of the ultraviolet part of the spectrum, which is used at different communication levels between animals and plants. The principle of bionic sculptures, of which only a few have been realized by the author so far, is an important contribution of the field. In 2015, Kuzica applied the abstract concept to the construction of six sculptures, denying their material again, to Štěpnice Castle Park in Dolní Počernice, Prague, where individual garden sets were added. With other Czech artists, Václav Fiala, Pavel Opočenský, David Černý, Zdeněk Hůla, Jasan Zoubek or Jan Kalab, he exhibits his works in the open spaces of Kejř Park in Hloubětín or in Prague's Nové Chabry. Milan Kuzica also organizes these sculpture parks. Kuzica appreciates his sense of color vision, exceptional for sculptors, in abstract paintings and experimental graphics. It is presented every year at the renowned confrontational exhibitions in the independent Zdenek Hůla Circle in Kostelec nad Černými lesy. As large art prints on an aluminum platform, they were also used in the modern commercial interiors of Siemens Headbuilding in Prague. He participated in two international symposia in the Rocky Mountains in Colored, USA, where he created several-meter snow sculptures (in 2010 he led the realization of his author's design). In 2007 he received an honorable mention for the work Apple - "Ordinary Seed" by the American magazine NeoPopRealism. In 2017, Kuzic's abstract statue of Green Life was selected for the Australian exhibition Sculpture by the Sea in Perth, where it won an award in the form of an invitation to a similar exhibition in Sydney. In 2020, instead of the 24th year, only this single statue was installed here as a symbol of the global fight against the Covid-19 virus. It is now permanently housed in the Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail in Australia. At Sculpture by the Sea were also exhibited sculptures by Start UpUp. Educated Life (Perth 2022) and Family – Nathan (Perth and Sydney 2023).
