What standards are Artpraisal's appraisals based on?Mondoir's fine art appraisals are provided through artpraisal.com and based on International Society of Appraisers (ISA) standards and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).
What do ISA standards and USPAP mean for an art appraisal? The International Society of Appraisers (ISA) is a professional organization for personal-property appraisers. USPAP is the ethical and performance framework published by The Appraisal Foundation for appraisal disciplines, including fine art as personal property. These standards guide a defined scope of work, independent and impartial analysis, and clear written reporting. An assignment identifies its intended use and users, the basis of value, and the effective valuation date. The report explains relevant market evidence, research and reasoning, the inspection method, assumptions, and limiting conditions, rather than promising a predetermined value or sale price.
Can a standards-based appraisal be used for insurance or legal purposes?Tell Artpraisal whether the appraisal is needed for insurance, estate or succession planning, a sale, or another professional purpose. The scope and basis of value must fit that intended use. For UAE or other jurisdiction-specific matters, confirm the recipient's requirements with your insurer, legal adviser, court, or institution before commissioning the assignment. An ISA- and USPAP-based approach does not guarantee acceptance by a particular recipient, and an appraisal is not an authentication certificate.
