Belinda Frikh Explore Mondoir Studio Nationality: French Artistic discipline: mixed-media Based in: Sevrier , FR BiographyBelinda Frikh is a French visual artist based in Annecy, in the French Alps. She trained in Fine Art and later pursued two years of postgraduate study in Applied Arts in Lyon. She spent 21 years in London, where her creative career developed across fashion, illustration, advertising and visual culture. Her work has been shown in London, Paris and Geneva, and she was represented by Runway Gallery in London from 2015 to 2025. Her professional background in fashion and image-making has had a lasting influence on her artistic language. Working primarily with graphite, ink, watercolour, collage and gold leaf, she has developed a distinctive body of work centred on stylised female figures, strong line, symmetry and decorative composition. She now lives and works in France while continuing to develop her practice internationally. Artist StatementMy work explores the codes of feminine beauty and the ways in which the female image has been constructed, stylised and idealised from the 1920s through to the 1980s. I am particularly drawn to the visual language of Art Deco, Art Nouveau and fashion illustration, and to figures associated with glamour, independence, sensuality and mythology. Through graphite, ink, watercolour, collage and gold leaf, I create stylised female figures that combine strong line, symmetry and decorative rhythm. I often work with contrast, leaving the body or face in black and white while introducing colour, pattern or metallic elements around it. My work sits between fine art, fashion and visual culture. I am interested in how a woman can become an image, an icon or an archetype, and how those visual codes continue to influence contemporary ideas of femininity and beauty.
