Talulah is a limited edition of 25, measuring 100 × 100 cm. The image is based on an original hand-drawn work created in 2014 using ink, marker and metallic ink. Each 2026 edition is individually hand-retouched by the artist after printing with ink and metallic gold ink, restoring the depth and reflective quality of the original metallic details. As every piece is finished by hand, subtle variations make each work individually finished within the edition. Each work is signed and numbered by the artist. Please allow up to three weeks for the hand-finishing process before dispatch.
Why collect this work?
A strict mirrored structure turns two nude figures into components of an ornamental system, balancing bodily exposure with formal control.
- Frikh states that she examines how femininity is stylised and idealised. Here, fashion-like elongation and near-identical profiles make the women read less as portraits than as constructed types.
- In the photograph, ivory bodies interrupt a dense charcoal-and-gold floral lattice. Their inward-facing poses create a central seam, while repeated hands, roses and winged forms make symmetry conspicuous rather than seamless.
- Catalogue metadata identifies this as a 2026 archival print after a 2014 drawing, individually retouched with ink and metallic gold ink. Hand-finishing may introduce small differences across the edition and lets reflective marks depart from the printed surface.
- The work is a focused case study in how decorative repetition can both display and depersonalise the female body, making it relevant to collections examining fashion imagery, ornament and representations of femininity.
