Biography
I am Nasha Maryam, an Indian Artist residing and based in UAE. For me history, life and nature are that which binds me. Being bought up in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and having had travelled, lived and experienced the desert, the thoughts and culture of the peninsula as well as that of the different emirates of UAE has molded the base inspiration for my complex artworks. For me the desert, the ocean and beautiful places inhabited by beautiful people, the warmth of soil and love, the coolness and simplicity of greenery is where my motivation stems up. Beyond beauty, the cognitive ideas, thoughts and introspection on the grounds of my belief and faith forms the root of my works. One can often observe the different Emirates of UAE in my artworks as they hold a special place in my heart for inspiring my life as a mom and as an artist. I paint landscapes as I connect to the memories of land more, living in countries where I grow and reside.
Artist Statement
My signature art styles are seascapes and desertscape paintings. It is because I find in the desert the moments to pause, slow down and introspect. And in painting seascape, I find therapy that heals the chaos of daily life specially that of a woman who juggles her role as a young mom and homemaker. It is the ordinary beauty of my daily life. An artist since childhood, I am embracing and navigating back to my passion in art post exclusive motherhood. I believe the best self love is finding time to do things you love! And that’s the best way to believe in yourself and the impact and magic that you bring to those around you!
Exhibitions
I had the honor and opportunity to exhibit my works in various platforms including ADIBS under DIARBID, Design Gallery in RAK, Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival, UAEMCY Art Exhibitions and Emirati Art Museum since the last 2 years.
Awards
I received my first award in the year 2023 with the prestigious ‘The Art Circle 2023 Annual Art Award’ as the first prize winner and consequently ‘Exceptional Art Award’ in the year 2025 with Fujairah Fine Arts Academy FAS Street.
Education
A graduate in English language and a teacher by profession returning back to her passion in art!
