The palm tree farms still bear dates and the travelers long to reach their homes and loved ones!
Why collect this work?
Small, widely separated figures turn the desert from empty ground into a network of Eid movements, linking worship, travel, agriculture and family across distance.
- Maryam describes landscapes as connections to remembered places in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Here, that perspective appears through selected social details rather than topographic specificity.
- In the photograph, palms anchor the lower left while a mosque, pedestrians, riders and a boat-like form occupy separate bands. Their miniature scale makes the broad orange-brown field register as both distance and shared terrain.
- The documented acrylic-on-canvas medium permits opaque silhouettes, pale architectural accents and broad colour passages. Denser marks along the lower and right edges contrast with the comparatively open centre.
- The painting can be encountered as a compressed account of Eid beyond a single ceremonial scene. It places religious architecture alongside children, travellers and cultivated palms, presenting tradition as dispersed everyday activity.
