Biography

Yuser Fatena (b. 1996) is a contemporary artist and architect. Trained in architecture, he holds a BA in Architecture and Design from Istanbul Bilgi University. While his early studies centered on urban space and human-scale dynamics, his focus eventually narrowed toward the lived human experience the "unresolved core" of his architectural training. Painting became the medium through which he could address these tensions directly, moving beyond the constraints of functional design. Since 2021, Fatena has worked independently as a full-time artist, with works now held in private collections in the United States, Greece, Poland, and internationally.

Artist Statement

My work examines the friction between physical space and emotional weight, focusing on the effort required to remain grounded within environments that resist stability. I approach the canvas as a site of construction and erosion rather than a purely visual surface. By layering oil, acrylic, and monoprint, I allow the history of the painting’s making to remain visible. Marks of hesitation, pressure, and correction are intentionally preserved, creating surfaces that record their own development and reflect the instability embedded in the subject matter.
