Her practice combines visual irony, geometric structure, and recognizable everyday imagery, transforming them into autonomous visual systems. Marina Imar has participated in over 50 exhibitions and art projects, including solo and group shows in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Minsk, as well as international online projects. Her works are held in private collections across Australia, Belarus, the UK, Germany, Latvia, Finland, France, Switzerland, Ukraine, Russia, and other countries. More than 250 of her works have been acquired by private collectors in various countries. Artist StatementMarina Imar is a contemporary artist working across painting and graphic art. Her practice explores the interaction between recognizable imagery, geometric structure, and visual irony. Imar transforms everyday subjects — the human figure, movement, urban space, and familiar situations — into independent visual systems. Form, color, and line become tools for shifting perception: the figure becomes part of a compositional structure, movement becomes rhythm, and space becomes an active element of the image. The artist works in series, each developing its own visual world. These include Avant-Garde Cats, Sport, Musicians, Saint Petersburg, and Geometry. Imar creates works that exist not only as images but also as autonomous visual objects. She is interested in the moment when a familiar image becomes unexpected and the everyday acquires a new visual logic.
