Giovanni Cobalchini Explore Mondoir Studio Nationality: Italian Artistic discipline: mixed-media Based in: Marostica, IT BiographyGiovanni Cobalchini is an Italian self-taught contemporary artist and founder of AuRUM SPACE. His practice has developed independently through years of experimentation with materials, surfaces and light. Alongside commissioned airbrush works created for specific projects, his recent artistic research marks a new direction, focused on large-scale textured works combining relief, metallic leaf, patination and controlled pictorial interventions. His work explores the changing relationship between material, light and perception, creating surfaces that transform according to their surroundings and the viewer’s position. In 2026, this new body of work was presented through exhibitions in Paris, Rome and Venice, including a solo exhibition at Palazzo Pisani Revedin in Venice. In the same year, he received the Premio Dante – International Recognition of Contemporary Art in Ravenna. Artist StatementMy work explores the relationship between material, light and perception. Through textured surfaces, relief and metallic leaf, I create works that change with their surroundings and with the movement of light. I am interested in the tension between strength and fragility, presence and absence, abstraction and recognizable form. Rather than offering a fixed image, each work is conceived as a surface in continuous transformation, revealing different details, depths and reflections according to the viewer’s position and the space it inhabits.
