This collection is the result of my exploration and reflection on the independent potential of the language of painting a place where painting is released from the task of representing the external world and enters an autonomous realm. In these artworks, non-representational abstraction is not the elimination of reality but the opening of new horizon for emotion and thought. For me, painting is a field of freedom; freedom from imagery, from fixed narratives, and from everything that confines the language of painting to representation. This freedom makes possible the emergence of structure that can only exist within painting itself independent of any external reference. Each artwork evolves through the act of painting, and meaning emerges through the encounter between the artwork and the viewer. "After Representation" is an invitation to experience painting directly; a space in which color, line, texture, rhythm, and movement are used not to describe objects but to create a world beyond.
Why collect this work?
Stacked colour zones create landscape-like depth, but irregular overlaps and edge interruptions keep the painting from resolving into a stable scene.
- In her statement, Tari frames the 2026 series as painting released from external reference. This work complicates that aim: its apparent turquoise, green, brown and orange bands still recall sky, terrain and geological strata.
- The photograph shows broad horizontal masses crossed by smaller patches and directional streaks. A sharp white gap at the left edge breaks the continuity, while cropped forms imply a composition extending beyond the paper.
- The documented acrylic on paper makes opaque coverage and abrupt boundaries possible. Here, layered-looking passages and visible directional marks differentiate each zone without requiring outlined forms.
- The work provides a focused case for considering when colour relationships become spatial associations. It sustains that threshold, allowing landscape recognition to arise without identifying a particular place.
