This collection is the result of my exploration and reflection on the independent potential of the language of painting a place where painting is released from the task of representing the external world and enters an autonomous realm. In these artworks, non-representational abstraction is not the elimination of reality but the opening of new horizon for emotion and thought. For me, painting is a field of freedom; freedom from imagery, from fixed narratives, and from everything that confines the language of painting to representation. This freedom makes possible the emergence of structure that can only exist within painting itself independent of any external reference. Each artwork evolves through the act of painting, and meaning emerges through the encounter between the artwork and the viewer. "After Representation" is an invitation to experience painting directly; a space in which color, line, texture, rhythm, and movement are used not to describe objects but to create a world beyond.
Why collect this work?
A dense field of blue-green strokes is checked by red crossings and a dark upright form, holding the painting between continuous motion and abrupt obstruction.
- Tari states that the 2026 series seeks to release painting from representing the external world. In this work, that aim remains productively incomplete: the marks resist fixed description yet still suggest water, terrain, or built space.
- Across the photographed surface, slanting strokes gather around a red horizontal band, while the tall form at right slows their lateral movement. A white passage near the lower edge opens a contrasting route through the denser colour.
- The documented acrylic on paper supports compressed overlaps of colour within the modest 29 by 42 centimetre format. Changes in stroke direction, rather than conventional perspective, organise depth and movement.
- The work provides a precise case for examining how quickly non-representational marks become readable as landscape. Its significance lies in sustaining that uncertainty rather than resolving it into either image or pattern.
