This collection is the result of my exploration and reflection on the independent potential of the language of painting a place where painting is released from the task of representing the external world and enters an autonomous realm. In these artworks, non-representational abstraction is not the elimination of reality but the opening of new horizon for emotion and thought. For me, painting is a field of freedom; freedom from imagery, from fixed narratives, and from everything that confines the language of painting to representation. This freedom makes possible the emergence of structure that can only exist within painting itself independent of any external reference. Each artwork evolves through the act of painting, and meaning emerges through the encounter between the artwork and the viewer. "After Representation" is an invitation to experience painting directly; a space in which color, line, texture, rhythm, and movement are used not to describe objects but to create a world beyond.
Why collect this work?
Lateral strokes repeatedly interrupt a red-dominated field, turning the modest sheet into a concentrated contest between directional flow and resistance.
- Tari states that the 2026 series seeks to release painting from representing the external world. The work supports that aim through marks that imply structure and movement without resolving into identifiable objects.
- In the photograph, pink, blue, green and dark strokes cross the red field. Horizontal bands accumulate toward the lower half, while short verticals enter from the left, checking their momentum.
- Catalogued as acrylic on paper and measuring 29 by 42 cm, the work concentrates many overlapping marks within a small format. Acrylic permits rapid additions and strong colour contrasts, although the photograph cannot establish surface texture or exact colour.
- The painting is a useful test of how line can organize attention without outlining a subject. Recurrence creates provisional order, while abrupt changes in direction prevent that order from becoming a fixed composition or narrative.
