This collection is the result of my exploration and reflection on the independent potential of the language of painting a place where painting is released from the task of representing the external world and enters an autonomous realm. In these artworks, non-representational abstraction is not the elimination of reality but the opening of new horizon for emotion and thought. For me, painting is a field of freedom; freedom from imagery, from fixed narratives, and from everything that confines the language of painting to representation. This freedom makes possible the emergence of structure that can only exist within painting itself independent of any external reference. Each artwork evolves through the act of painting, and meaning emerges through the encounter between the artwork and the viewer. "After Representation" is an invitation to experience painting directly; a space in which color, line, texture, rhythm, and movement are used not to describe objects but to create a world beyond.
Why collect this work?
Broad blue bands descend and pool against orange and yellow strokes, creating opposing currents across the paper. Although no object is fixed, the composition approaches water, rock, or flame, showing how abstraction can resist depiction without preventing association.
- Tari describes the 2026 series as an effort to release painting from external reference. In this work, that stated aim is complicated productively by directional forms that remain abstract yet prompt provisional recognition.
- In the photograph, a dark central arc gathers broken strokes around a pale opening. Marks cut off at several edges, making the compact composition feel like a fragment of activity continuing beyond the sheet.
- Catalogued as acrylic on paper, 29 × 42 cm, the work uses the medium’s capacity for opaque overlap and rapid shifts between broad bands and narrow marks. These contrasts organize movement without conventional perspective.
- Encountering this painting foregrounds a specific question: how little descriptive information is needed before colour and direction begin to read as elemental space.
