Parallel Impulses is a diptych exploring the dialogue between two independent yet interconnected compositions. Each panel carries its own rhythm of gestural brushstrokes, while together they create a unified visual field where movement, balance, and contrast coexist. Expressive layers of crimson, magenta, turquoise, charcoal, and soft grey intersect across the surfaces, creating a sense of shifting energy and spontaneous interaction. Bold marks are balanced by translucent passages and delicate linear accents, allowing the eye to move freely between the two canvases and discover new relationships from different viewing distances. The two paintings are available only as a diptych, preserving the intended conversation between the panels. Original acrylic painting on canvas. Diptych (2 panels) Each panel: 30 × 30 cm (11.8 × 11.8 in) Overall size: 60 × 30 cm (23.6 × 11.8 in) Signed on the back Certificate of Authenticity included Ready to hang
Why collect this work?
Marks repeatedly meet or disappear at the edges of these square panels, making each composition read as a cropped fragment rather than a self-contained scene.
- Ivaniv reports moving from UI/UX design back to easel painting and treating canvas as a physical interface. That intention helps frame the angular overlays here as organised visual traffic, though the photograph alone cannot establish their tactile character.
- The left panel opens around a broad pale crossing, while the right compresses darker strokes into a tighter knot. Recurring reds and blue-greens connect two distinctly weighted structures.
- The documented acrylic on canvas accommodates crisp dark lines, broad opaque-looking strokes, and partially visible underlayers. Their abrupt intersections produce depth through overlap rather than conventional perspective.
- The diptych is significant as a study in unequal counterparts. Encountered together, its panels test how repetition can establish coherence without symmetry, and how an interval can sharpen comparison.
