"Depth of Rhodes & Blue Silence" is a powerful two-panel abstract diptych that offers an immersive meditation on the submerged world of the Mediterranean—where light fractures through layers of water, and memory dissolves into color. This complementary pair captures the ever-shifting dialogue between light and sea, where turquoise shallows dissolve into deep sapphire horizons. TECHNICAL DETAILS: Format: Diptych (consists of two separate canvas panels designed to be hung together). Individual Panel Dimensions: 60cm x 80cm each. Total Dimensions: 120cm x 80cm (without gap) Ready to hang, signed on the back, Certificate of Authenticity. Note: If you have a specific space constraint, these two panels can also be purchased individually in my gallery under their respective titles, "Depth of Rhodes" and "Blue Silence". However, when displayed together as a diptych, they create a grand, cohesive panoramic statement perfect for large living spaces, offices, or bedrooms.
Why collect this work?
Matching vertical panels hold noticeably different concentrations of blue, making comparison rather than pictorial continuity the work’s governing structure.
- Ivaniv says she approaches painting through an earlier background in UI/UX design. The repeated rectangular format can accordingly be read as an interface-like structure, although the irregular marks resist orderly visual navigation.
- In the supplied photograph, darker cobalt gathers across the left panel, while cyan and turquoise appear more prominent on the right. Scattered angular marks interrupt both fields, producing a restless optical rhythm within the limited palette.
- The work is catalogued as acrylic on two canvases, each 60 by 80 cm. Acrylic permits successive layers to retain distinct edges, but the photograph cannot verify exact colour, relief, or surface condition.
- As a 2024 diptych, it provides a focused case for considering how repetition exposes variation: paired dimensions establish equivalence, while shifts in tone and mark distribution prevent the panels from functioning as duplicates.
