"The Stuck Beat" emerged from a deep exploration of emotional energy, intense, pulsating, and unyielding. The dominant red in this piece is not just a symbol of anger or wounds; it represents life itself, persisting even under pressure. As I worked, I felt the red embodying a heartbeat, a reminder of resilience and vitality. The splashes of white and black interrupt this rhythm, capturing the essence of emotions that remain unexpressed. They are the beats that linger, the feelings we hold back, and the silent burdens we carry. Through the textured layers and repetitive gestures, I aimed to encapsulate the tension that lives within our collective memory. I hope viewers feel the silent pulse beneath the surface, a reminder of our shared existence and empathy. In the quiet, there is always a beat, urging us to acknowledge both the seen and the unseen within ourselves and others.
Why collect this work?
A dense red field is crossed by abrupt white and black trajectories, turning repetition into a rhythm repeatedly interrupted rather than smoothly sustained.
