In creating this piece, I wanted to explore the complex relationship between the body and the world it inhabits. The fragmented figure, wrapped in contrasting colors, represents the tension between external pressures and internal identity. The bright red band crossing the body is deliberate, a bold statement of the boundaries and restrictions we often face. It’s a visual metaphor for the pressures that shape and sometimes confine us. The gentle purple background serves as a serene but distant space, suggesting a separation from the chaos of the outside world. It’s as if the body exists in a moment of suspended reflection, isolated yet profoundly aware. The black areas add a weightiness, a sense of containment, echoing the heaviness of lived experiences and societal expectations. Through this work, I hope viewers feel a connection to the idea of the body as a canvas of memory and identity. I want them to reflect on how external perceptions shape our sense of self, and to consider the delicate balance between personal identity and social influence.
