Surreal Vision presents an abstract, almost surrealist composition built up strongly around the motif of the eye. At the centre is a large, round form with a dark core, surrounded by bright paths of colour recalling an iris. The eye seems both to look and to be looked at, giving the work a penetrating and slightly uncomfortable tension.Around this centre lie angular, star-shaped structures pointing inwards, as though enclosing or opening the eye. These sharp forms contrast with the soft, flowing lines and transparent fields of colour in the background. The colours — pink, yellow, turquoise, blue and orange — overlap one another like layers of glass or liquid, creating a sense of depth and movement. The combination of the eye motif, the sharp geometry and the organic flows of colour evokes associations with perception, vulnerability and intervention.
