In this painting, I present an abstract portrait of Christ, in which traditional religious imagery has been abandoned in favor of a contemporary, symbolic representation. The face emerges not from clear contours, but from a layered grid of color planes and a fine, organic network that lies over the surface like a fragile skin. The mosaic-like composition suggests the face: eyes, nose, and mouth are only partially recognizable and seem to appear and disappear within the structure. This gives the portrait a contemplative, almost mystical aura. The multi-colored palette—ranging from cool blues and greens to warm purples, pinks, and earth tones—alludes to both humanity and spirituality. The broken, net-like texture evokes associations with suffering, vulnerability, and sacrifice, but also with restoration and transformation. The contrast between dark areas and translucent colors amplifies the inner tension of the image: Christ as both a suffering human being and a spiritual symbol. The work invites contemplation. It is not a literal representation, but an inner portrait—a visual meditation on faith, identity, and the layering of the human and the divine.
