One month after rescuing The Ballerina (Vol. 2), Vol. 1 (slide 2) is finally saved too. Couldn't be happier about it. Getting Vol. 1 ready for the archive was a lot more complicated than the second one. Even though it wasn't as beat up, the paper was way more brittle. I had to take it slow and be super careful with every step. Still, that extra care is exactly what made the whole process enjoyable. So, here is The Ballerina. ✂ Updated October 2026 Just like a ballerina, human beings have their own performance stage that only shows the outermost side in life. The work diligently crafted using a combination of acrylic paint, oil pastel, HVS paper, and magazine cutouts by Metalhead Melankolis. Framed in A4 size.
Why collect this work?
A sharply bent, composite body turns the ballerina’s controlled silhouette into a dense structure of borrowed faces, hands, patterns, and partial limbs.
- Metalhead Melankolis identifies as a poet and collage artist. That dual practice helps frame the figure as a visual construction whose fragments suggest meanings without settling into a single narrative.
- In the photograph, an irregular figure is isolated against a pale ground. Its folded pose remains legible, while abrupt shifts of scale and anatomy disrupt any seamless account of the body.
- The documented combination of magazine cutouts, HVS paper, acrylic, and oil pastel permits printed bodies and decorative motifs to meet drawn or painted interventions. Visible cut edges keep that assembly apparent.
- The artist describes life as a performance that presents only an outer layer. Here, the recognizable pose and crowded interior make that claim productively uncertain: appearance is not removed, but assembled from other appearances.
