Praise Agunbiade also known as MasterArt is a Nigerian mixed media artist whose practice centers on portraiture, identity, and human emotion. Working with denim, paint, and layered materials, he transforms everyday fabrics into expressive artworks. His work explores resilience, vulnerability, and shared experiences, inviting viewers to connect with the emotional stories woven into each composition.

Artist Statement

My work explores the emotions people often hide behind everyday life. Using denim, paint, and mixed media, I transform familiar materials into portraits of resilience, vulnerability, and identity. Each piece invites viewers to reflect on their own experiences, creating space for empathy, connection, and honest conversations through contemporary visual storytelling

Exhibitions

Exhibitmosho 2026 Exhibition, Nigeria Group Exhibition Exhibited two works, Silent Weight and Togetherness. The works explored emotional resilience, human connection, and the unseen psychological burdens carried by individuals through the use of recycled denim and acrylic on canvas. 2025 A group art exhibition with the Theme:Print of my soul where i exhibited two of my works from the flower girl series. 2025 Final Year Art Showcase Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Nigeria Group Exhibition Presented a collection of mixed media works that investigated identity, emotion, and contemporary human experiences through innovative material exploration. 2018 Command Day Secondary School Art Exhibition Ibadan, Nigeria Group Exhibition Participated in a student art exhibition, presenting early works that reflected an interest in portraiture and visual storytelling.

Education

Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Fine and Applied Arts Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria 2020 to 2025 During my studies, I developed a strong foundation in drawing, painting, art history, sculpture and mixed media practice. My training strengthened my technical skills, critical thinking, and research methods while encouraging experimentation with materials. My practice evolved into a distinctive approach that combines acrylic paint with recycled denim on canvas. Through this process, I investigate human emotion, identity, resilience, memory, and shared experiences. The program also provided opportunities to participate in exhibitions, collaborative projects, and public art engagements, helping me build professional experience as a contemporary visual artist.
