Heartbeat Beyond Time is a visual meditation on love as a universal rhythm that transcends history, rivalry, and individuality. Through the layered fusion of two iconic artistic figures, the work transforms classical imagery into a pulsating field of repeating red hearts — each one echoing emotion, memory, and connection. The central heart stands as the core of human experience, while the surrounding repetition suggests the continuous pulse of love that flows through generations. The black and white figures symbolize history and legacy; the red becomes the living present — emotion breaking through time. This piece speaks not of romantic love alone, but of creative love, spiritual friendship, and the invisible thread that binds souls across centuries.
Why collect this work?
A faceted red heart breaks the regularity of repeated heart motifs and shadowed profiles, making attachment appear both connective and disruptive.
- Manik Das describes combining physical painting with digital and AI-assisted methods. In this work, that stated hybridity clarifies the meeting of portrait-like forms, graphic repetition, and gestural black passages, though the photograph does not establish physical texture or process.
- Horizontal rows of small hearts pass across two overlapping dark heads. The larger central heart crosses their profiles and interrupts the pattern, suggesting a bond that joins identities while partly obscuring them.
- Catalogued as mixed-media digital art from 2025, the image uses duplication, shifts of scale, transparency, and sharp red contrast. These devices produce a pulse-like rhythm without relying on literal movement.
- Encountering this work allows a familiar emblem to be tested against portraiture. Repetition turns the heart from a private declaration into a shared visual system, while the central rupture preserves difference within that system.
