“Summer Day” is a vibrant and uplifting oil painting that captures the essence of a perfect summer day. At the heart of the composition stands a flourishing tree, its sunlit leaves bursting with shades of green, gold, and light. Nestled nearby, a charming house glows warmly in the summer light, evoking feelings of peace, joy, and timeless serenity.
Why collect this work?
A dark, forked tree interrupts the bright garden and partly conceals the house, making shelter appear as something reached through cultivated abundance rather than viewed directly.
- Anis describes her practice as translating atmosphere into emotional warmth. In this painting, that intention is visibly pursued through repeated yellow, red, and pink accents set against cooler greens and blues, although their cheerful effect remains open to individual response.
- The photographed view shows enlarged flowers and upright, spear-shaped plants crowding the foreground. Behind them, the house supplies a simple block of pale walls and red roof, while the bending trunk links these spatial layers.
- The catalogue identifies oil on canvas. Oil can sustain distinct, opaque colour marks; here, the visible strokes keep sky, foliage, and architecture loosely segmented instead of smoothing them into continuous surfaces.
- Dated 2025 and measuring 40 by 50 cm, Summer day provides a focused case for considering how a domestic landscape can withhold its dwelling, using vegetation to complicate the familiar ideal of home as the scene’s unquestioned centre.
