UnityBeak is a large scale public sculpture by FLY that explores how unity is physically and socially constructed. The work is built through an intensive, hands on process that transforms thousands of individual rubber ducks into a single monumental form. Each duck is placed intentionally, emphasizing repetition, patience, and accumulation as core elements of the creative act. What appears playful at first glance is the result of rigorous planning, engineering, and sustained manual labor. UnityBeak was commissioned by Lincoln Road and the City of Miami Beach as a public art installation designed to engage a broad and diverse audience. Installed in one of the most visited pedestrian corridors in the city, the work was conceived to be accessible, non intimidating, and immediately legible while still carrying conceptual depth. The familiar duck form lowers barriers to entry, inviting curiosity and interaction from people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds. The impact of UnityBeak extended far beyond its physical footprint. The sculpture became a focal point for gathering, photography, and shared experience, generating significant organic media coverage and social circulation. Visitors did not simply observe the work, they participated in its life through presence, conversation, and documentation. UnityBeak functioned as both an artwork and a social catalyst, activating public space through joy, reflection, and connection. At its core, UnityBeak reflects the idea that collective strength is built from individual contributions. The process mirrors the message. Many small elements, when brought together with intention, form something powerful and enduring. As a commissioned public work, UnityBeak demonstrates how contemporary sculpture can create measurable cultural impact by fostering visibility, inclusivity, and a shared sense of belonging within the urban environment.
