Duck-Tiny is a playful miniature monument to joy and wonder, capturing the spirit of my large scale duck installations in an intimate, collectible form. Each photograph reveals the same sculpture bathed in different light, transforming its glossy surface and vivid color into a series of distinct moods, from soft meditative glow to crisp high contrast shine. As the lighting shifts, subtle reflections and shadows appear and disappear, inviting the viewer to look closer and discover new details in a familiar figure. Together, these images celebrate how a single small duck can hold many atmospheres at once, playful, tender, and quietly luminous, echoing themes of unity, resilience, and everyday magic that run through all of my work.
Why collect this work?
A martini-glass silhouette assembled from repeated duck forms turns a familiar emblem of leisure into an image of collective structure: each tiny unit remains legible while contributing to the larger shape.
- FLY’s statement links repetition with unity and shared experience. Here, that aim is materially specific rather than merely symbolic, since numerous miniature ducks build one vessel.
- In the photograph, pale units define the bowl, stem and base against a sparkling yellow field, while a dark fly-like accent interrupts the pink-filled bowl. The diagonal cocktail pick sharpens the otherwise centered, frontal arrangement.
- The documented medium is glow-in-the-dark resin ducks. Their modular scale permits a contour to be drawn through accumulation, while the luminescent property may alter the figure’s visibility in low light, an effect this photograph cannot confirm.
