Kaleidoscope of Life explores the ever-changing nature of human experience. Through layers of vibrant color, intuitive gestures, and symbolic forms, the painting reflects the constant movement between chaos and harmony, uncertainty and clarity, destruction and renewal. The yellow background evokes vitality, consciousness, and life force, while the dynamic marks and spiraling elements symbolize the patterns, emotions, and memories that shape our journey. Fragmented forms emerge and dissolve, suggesting that identity is never fixed but continuously evolving through experience. Created through an intuitive process, this work invites the viewer to embrace life’s unpredictability and discover beauty within transformation. Like a kaleidoscope, every shift in perspective reveals a new reality, reminding us that growth often emerges from moments of disorder.
Why collect this work?
A broad yellow field holds spirals, bars, stains and rapid linear marks without settling them into a single focal point. The painting makes coherence provisional: repeated curves connect its fragments, while hard-edged interruptions resist that continuity.
- Arutyunyan describes her practice as intuitive and concerned with transformation. In this work, that intention is supported by forms that recur with alterations rather than resolving into a fixed image.
- In the photograph, a large purple arc weighs on the right, balanced unevenly by a thinner coil at lower left. Pale vertical and horizontal bars cut through the surrounding motion, introducing brief pauses and divisions.
- Catalogued as oil on canvas, the painting combines opaque blocks, translucent-looking sweeps and scattered droplets. Oil can sustain such varied densities, allowing separate gestures to overlap while remaining visually distinct.
- In a display about repetition in abstraction, this painting could show how a motif changes through scale and placement. Its spirals bind distant areas of the canvas without turning fragmentation into harmony.
