Bluebell was born from the feeling of belonging to more than one landscape. In this painting, I bring together the shifting, rain-washed atmosphere of Scotland and the warmth, light, and richness of my Algerian heritage. Rather than choosing between these influences, I allow them to meet, overlap, and become a new emotional terrain. I layered deep navy with vibrant cerulean and bright turquoise to create a sense of movement, like water, weather, and memory continually reshaping one another. Metallic gold rises through the cooler tones as a current of warmth, suggesting sunlight, inheritance, and the precious fragments of identity we carry with us. The heavily worked surface holds traces of gesture and time, inviting natural light to travel across its sculptural ridges. As the day changes, Bluebell changes with it, revealing new passages and quieter moments. I hope this work brings both energy and contemplation into a space. For me, it is a celebration of cultural connection and the beauty of transformation, a reminder that identity can be layered, fluid, and luminous.
