By @ManikVisuals
In the bustling city of Kolkata, amidst its historical temples and vibrant street life, resides an artist whose canvas defies conventional expectations. @ManikVisuals, an Indian mixed-media maestro, is not content with limiting his creativity to either the physical or digital realm. Instead, he straddles both worlds with a distinctive approach that challenges the boundaries of traditional art.@ManikVisuals, a native of India, operates from his dynamic studio space in Kolkata. His artistic discipline? A compelling blend of mixed media that embraces digital innovation while honoring traditional craftsmanship. As he aptly puts it, he creates 'phygital' artworks—a sinuous combination of physical and digital elements that together explore abstraction, symbolism, and human emotions. This artistic duality is the essence of @ManikVisuals' work. His pieces seem to exist in a liminal space, where the tactile meets the virtual, and where age-old techniques marry cutting-edge technology. It’s this juxtaposition that has come to define his artistic identity, promising readers an exploration of a story that is as much about art as it is about transformation and the future.Born into a family imbued with a deep appreciation for art, @ManikVisuals' path to becoming an artist was perhaps inevitable. His formative years were spent immersed in the rich tapestry of Indian culture, with his surroundings serving as both canvas and inspiration. At the Government Art College in Kolkata, where he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s in Visual Arts, he honed his skills and discovered a love for ceramic art and pottery—mediums that would later inform his phygital creations.Reflecting on his early artistic journey, @ManikVisuals recalls, "मेरा जो कला है, मैंने सुरू से मैं बोलना चाहते हूँ, मैं एक visual artist हूँ," emphasizing his intrinsic identity as a visual artist. His education laid a strong foundation, but it was his relentless curiosity and desire to expand his horizons that truly shaped his path. The digital revolution in the art world was the catalyst that propelled him into a new dimension of creativity.Graduating with first-class honors in 2005, @ManikVisuals initially focused on physical artworks. Exhibitions at esteemed venues such as the Birla Academy of Art & Culture further cemented his status as a fine artist. Yet, he felt an insatiable urge to reach a broader audience—"मैंने search कर रहा था, कहाँ पे मुझे एक ऐसा मध्यम मिले, एक platform मिले, जो मेरा work और भी published हो," he shares, reflecting his quest for a platform to share his vision. In August 2023, his artistic journey took a pivotal turn when he ventured into the burgeoning realm of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). Though initially daunting—"NFT joined होने के बाद, मैंने starting में उतना समझ में नहीं आया, कैसे digital इसके express किया जाये,"—he embraced the challenge. The transition was transformative: "तो मैंने कुछ foundation में, मैंने डाला है, कुछ artwork, जो मैंने हाटों से बनाया, वो flower book के type है, उसको मैंने digitally, and then through apps के जड़िये, मैंने उसको develop किया," he reveals, underscoring his innovative adaptation of traditional art into digital formats.@ManikVisuals’ artistic practice is a confluence of watercolors, acrylics, ceramic art, and digital applications. His works, such as "Harmony in Abstraction" and "Chromatic Reverie," are vibrant tapestries of color and movement, drawing viewers into a meditative space. Themes of inner transformation, spirituality, and nature serve as the backbone of his art, encapsulating feelings that transcend literal imagery. He elaborates on his process, "एक ओयोवी सोचल एक साइड है जिसमें उपन कल होती है मेक्सिमम टाइम उसमें भी मेरा भाग लिया है," indicating his engagement with various platforms to develop and share his phygital creations. His work exists as a bridge between the tactile world of ceramics and the boundless potential of digital art—a balance he navigates with deft precision.Recognition for @ManikVisuals' work has been abundant. The State Academy Scholarship and the Certificate of Master Award from the International Kolkata Art Expo are among his accolades. His participation in global events such as NFT.NYC and the Blockchain Futurist Conference further highlights his rising prominence on the international stage.Despite these accolades, @ManikVisuals remains grounded and introspective about the challenges he has faced. "मेरा पास तो आईपड नहीं है, पर मेरा स्ट्रॉंग जो पाउर है, वो मेरा फिजिकल, हैंड में पेंटिंग," he confesses, acknowledging the limitations he confronts in the digital realm. Yet, it is precisely this sincerity and willingness to embrace uncertainty that propels him forward. His work is a constant dialogue between vulnerability and strength, tradition and innovation. He admits, "मुझे बहुत अच्छा लागा क्योंकि NFT मार्केट में मैंने देखा वर्ल्ड वाइस सब आर्टिस्ट नया नया काम कर रहा है," which fuels his determination to continue evolving as an artist.Looking ahead, @ManikVisuals envisions expanding his phygital experimentations further. He hopes to integrate his art more deeply into educational spaces, fostering a new generation of artists who appreciate the confluence of physical and digital art forms. "मैंने बच्चे को सिखाते हैं, मैंने बात भी किया एनेप्टी मार्केट में कुछ अदमी से," he shares, reflecting his dedication to nurturing creative talent in the youth. As @ManikVisuals continues to push the boundaries of his practice, he remains hopeful about his legacy. "मुझे देखीएगा। मेरा वर्प को थोड़ा पब्लिस्ट कीजिएगा," he requests, expressing a desire for his work to be recognized and celebrated, both within India and on the global stage.@ManikVisuals' story is one of artistic evolution—blending the tangible with the intangible, the historical with the futuristic. He stands as a testament to the power of creativity and resilience, as he navigates the phygital frontier with heart and vision.
