Biography
Vanezuva is an interdisciplinary artist and cultural researcher working across visual media, sound, and participatory systems. Her practice engages questions of power, extraction, technology, and lived experience, with particular attention to the Global South and diasporic contexts. Drawing on over fifteen years of experience in human rights education and community-centered cultural programming within museums, schools, and public institutions, she approaches art as a systems-based practice that considers access, authorship, and cultural value alongside form and content. Her work includes experimental films, sound-based projects, participatory platforms, and evolving digital works that integrate emerging technologies such as AI and blockchain. These tools serve an ongoing inquiry into how technical systems influence perception, memory, and agency, while prioritizing public access and shared authorship. Her work has been presented internationally through exhibitions, screenings, and research programs bridging art, technology, and social inquiry.Artist Statement
I am an artist and cultural researcher working across visual media, sound, and participatory systems. My practice examines how power, technology, and dominant narratives shape perception and determine who is seen, heard, and excluded. I approach institutions, public space, and emerging technologies as material, using art to reveal hidden structures and create new forms of access, authorship, and shared agency. My work is informed by a background in human rights education and over fifteen years designing community-centered cultural initiatives within museums, schools, and public institutions. I understand art as a framework: I investigate how cultural value is produced, how knowledge circulates, and how creative labor is distributed across social, political, economic, and technological contexts. I explore themes of migration, hybridity, resource extraction, and digital power, particularly in relation to the Global South and diasporic experience. Drawing from my own photographs, field recordings, and paintings, I merge lived reality with surrealism and abstraction. I often work from the concept of the “sur (real)” to examine how global power structures shape perception and material conditions. My projects take many forms: experimental films, sound-based works, participatory platforms, and long-term initiatives centered on access, equity, and shared authorship. Through a culturally hybrid perspective, I reflect on how people and nature become commodified within extractive economies. My artistic and educational work form a single inquiry into infrastructure impacts on lived experience, and how art may intervene. Technology plays a critical role in my practice. I engage with AI, blockchain, and digital media as forces that reflect and reproduce existing power relations. My work focuses on what these technologies omit, distort, or erase, and how human intervention and care can be reintroduced through interactive archival structures that challenge centralized narratives, and in support of alternative futures. I have presented work internationally and participated in residencies and research programs that bridge art, technology, and social inquiry. Education functions as a methodology grounded in listening, co-creation, and long-term relationship building. At its core, my practice asks: How might cultural futures be designed to be more just, inclusive, and regenerative, while remaining accountable to the communities and contexts they engage?Exhibitions

I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Arts in Human Rights Education, with a focus on equity in education and access to arts education. Beyond formal degrees, my training includes extended education courses in painting, as well as professional development in Visual Thinking Strategies and youth development through the arts, practices that have deeply informed my work in museum and community settings. I have also participated in numerous artist residencies and professional programs that integrate emerging technologies with creative practice, including the Eclipse Digital Renaissance Residency (2025), Artivist Residency (2025), Runway Creative Partners Program (2024), Accelerate Art Cohort 13 (2024), and residencies with Transient Labs & Stability AI Innovation Labs (2023). These experiences have expanded my technical fluency in AI, blockchain, and Web3 tools as part of my ongoing artistic and strategic development. This combination of formal education, professional training, and hands-on experimentation has shaped my approach to art as both a creative and systems-based practice centered on access, equity, and cultural transformation.Artworks by Vanezuva
