Midnight Bloom by Saswati Explore Mondoir Studio Medium: Acrylic mixed media on board Dimensions: 40 x 48 in Year: 2025 Price: $1500.00 USD Status: available A bloom that glows after dark Why collect this work?A narrow pink band interrupts an expansive dark field, using unequal proportions to make a small area of colour register with unusual intensity. Saswati describes her practice as exploring movement, memory and emotion through texture and colour. Here, those stated concerns are compressed into a spare, nonfigurative arrangement. The photograph shows dark paint occupying most of the upright rectangle, with pink confined to its lower edge. Fine, irregular marks disturb both zones and temper the severity of their division. The documented acrylic mixed media on board supports dense coverage and a firm horizontal boundary. Reflected highlights suggest surface variation, though its depth and exact colour cannot be established from the photograph. The title, Midnight Bloom, shifts the lower band between possible readings: flower, horizon, or emitted light. That unresolved relation between naming and abstraction gives a concrete reason to compare the work with representations of nocturnal nature.
