Avi by Raya Mansoor is a series born from the warmth of the islands, where the sun touches everything: the ocean, the land, and the people who call it home. It is about life lived under that constant light, felt in quiet mornings, in the movement of the sea, and in the golden hours that bring each day to a close. It is about all that it creates. The shifting colours of the water, the bursts of blooms and hidden life, and the memories of growing up in its glow.

An elongated botanical form crosses stacked fields of contrasting colour, turning the painting’s narrow format into a study of growth that is directional rather than orderly.
- Mansoor describes her practice as intuitive and process-led. Here, that approach helps explain the irregular branch, whose changing leaf shapes resist a fixed botanical classification.
