Biography

My name is Roman Opalinski. I’m a contemporary Ukrainian artist. I was born in 1962 in Horodok, a small town in the Lviv region of Ukraine — and for over 40 years, I’ve been creating paintings that combine personal experience, sacred symbols, and everyday emotion. My works often reflect inner states, timeless questions, and the quiet power of color and form. I work with oil, wood, gold, and silver — using only traditional techniques and always creating each piece by hand, in a single copy. Art, for me, is not decoration. It’s a space of truth — where every viewer can find a part of their own story.

Artist Statement

My work explores the intersection of emotion, memory, and symbolism through bold colors and layered textures. I seek to capture fleeting feelings and transform them into lasting visual experiences. Each painting invites the viewer to reflect on their own inner world and the beauty of the unrepeatable moment.
