Nikša Explore Mondoir Studio Nationality: Serbian Artistic discipline: sculpture Based in: Beograd, RS BiographyNikša Suzić is a Serbian sculptor based in Belgrade. He holds both a BA and an MA in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Arts in Belgrade. His practice developed from traditional sculptural methods toward a broader exploration of material, space, installation and the physical experience of objects. Working across stone, plaster, concrete, bronze, aluminium, wood and mixed media, Suzić combines precise fabrication with an intuitive approach to form. Alongside his independent artistic practice, he has more than eight years of professional experience in art production, exhibitions and large-scale cultural environments, contributing to international projects in Europe, the UAE and Japan. This experience has expanded his understanding of scale, material behaviour and the relationship between an artwork and the space it occupies. Artist StatementMy practice explores vulnerability, bodily memory, psychological pressure and the unstable relationship between protection and confinement. I am interested in states that are difficult to describe directly, tension, uncertainty, repression, belonging and the feeling of being physically or psychologically contained. I translate these states into sculptural forms that may appear soft, compressed, fragile or unstable, while often being made from rigid and permanent materials. I work with plaster, stone, concrete, bronze, aluminium, wood, drawing and installation, using contrasts between softness and hardness, control and disruption, permanence and fragility. Rather than illustrating a specific narrative, I use sculpture to create physical situations in which these contradictions can be experienced. The work often exists somewhere between comfort and discomfort, stability and collapse, allowing uncertainty itself to become part of the experience.
