The pear transforms into an ecosystem - its body is no longer closed, but becomes the birthplace of something else. Mushrooms emerging from within blur the boundaries between fruit and environment, between the singular and the plural. It's a dreamlike image in which forms flow into one another without resistance. The fragility here lies in the loss of integrity: the object ceases to be itself, but it is precisely in this disintegration that new life emerges. Acrylic, oil pastel, oil on canvas, 30*40 cm (11,8''*15,8'') Signed on the front and back by the artist. Stretched and ready to hang. A certificate of Authenticity signed and dated by the artist will be included in the package.
Why collect this work?
A swollen, pear-shaped figure fills the small vertical format, yet scattered stems interrupt its apparent wholeness. Growth reads less as decoration than as a process that makes the central body difficult to separate from its surroundings.
- The artist describes her practice as concerned with forms caught between states. In this painting, that intention is realised through the continued legibility of the pear even as it begins to resemble a host or habitat.
- The photograph shows a luminous central mass leaning beneath a folded grey form. Pink bud-like heads occur inside, across, and outside its contour, weakening any clear division between organism and environment.
- The catalogue identifies acrylic and oil pastel on canvas. Their combination permits broad, veiled passages alongside darker linear accents, so recognition depends on a few contours rather than firm modelling.
- Within contemporary approaches to still life, this work shifts attention from a fruit’s surface to its uncertain boundaries. Its compact scale concentrates a larger question: when does an individual form become an ecosystem?
