Biography

Based in Monaco, Maja Kerin is a fine art photographer known for a distinctive “painting photography” approach—evocative works that move beyond traditional photography into abstract, emotion-led explorations of colour, light, and atmosphere. Inspired by travel and guided by a contemplative creative practice, Maja approaches each subject as an encounter with the unseen—capturing not only what is visible, but what is felt. As she often says, “Everything is energy. Everything around us moves and vibrates, and I’m drawn to photographing that flow.” At the heart of her work is colour—not simply as aesthetic, but as frequency and emotional language. Through her camera-painting technique, she weaves movement, texture, and composition into meditative, impressionist-like abstractions designed to bring harmony and inner stillness to the viewer and to the spaces her work inhabits. Maja’s practice is ultimately an invitation: to pause, to return inward, and to experience beauty as a quiet form of restoration—making the invisible, visible.

My work is an invitation to pause, to feel, and to live with beauty that restores.

Education

I completed professional photography courses in London in 2014, which provided a solid technical foundation for my practice. My artistic development has since evolved through a largely self-directed, practice-based approach. I work intuitively and experientially, guided by observation, repetition, and an ongoing exploration of light, movement, and emotion. This independent path has allowed me to develop a distinctive visual language that sits between photography and painting, shaped by both technical understanding and embodied creative research. My education continues through sustained studio practice, travel, and collaboration, with a strong emphasis on learning through making and through the lived experience of place, light, and atmosphere.
