Kintsugi by Lina Poluna Explore Mondoir Studio Medium: oil on canvas Dimensions: 20 x 30 cm Year: 2024 Price: $700.00 USD Status: available She does not hide her fractures. They run across her skin like a map of survival. Kintsugi is not about being whole again. It is about becoming precious because you were broken. Why collect this work?A sharply modelled figure is split by luminous seams that alternate between ornament and rupture, making repair appear inseparable from exposure. Poluna states that she paints emotional states rather than stories, with the body serving as a container for pressure and transformation. Here, that intention is legible in the tension between the figure’s controlled pose and visibly divided form. The figure turns sideways while meeting the viewer’s direction with a lowered gaze. Pale sections of face, torso, and arm emerge from darkness, while gaps expose rib-like structures; the body reads as both portrait and constructed shell. The documented oil-on-canvas medium permits gradual modelling alongside hard linear accents. In the photograph, soft transitions give the figure volume, while gold-colored fissures cut across that illusion and keep the surface optically active. The title refers to kintsugi, yet the painting complicates a simple image of healing: its seams connect fragments without concealing loss. It is particularly useful for considering when visible repair becomes identity, decoration, or evidence of damage. About the ArtistLina Poluna Lina Poluna is an artist on Mondoir Studio.
