Butterfly and Sunset by Fayina Yerenburh Explore Mondoir Studio Medium: Acrilyc on canvas Dimensions: 169 x 135 cm Year: 2025 Price: $8500.00 USD Status: available A vibrant encounter between the delicate form of a butterfly and the intensity of a sunset. Through saturated colour and expressive forms, the painting explores the beauty and energy of the natural world, transforming a fleeting moment into a vivid visual experience. Why collect this work?A single oversized butterfly cuts diagonally across the painting, turning a delicate subject into a monumental screen of branching colour against a simplified sun and horizon. Yerenburh identifies colour as the central language of her practice. Here, that stated aim is borne out by the sharp separation of bright internal bands from the comparatively uniform blue setting. In the photograph, the butterfly’s wings dominate the frame and partly overlap the red disc. Their irregular, vein-like compartments complicate the readable silhouette, shifting attention between an insect, a patterned surface and an imagined landscape.Catalogued as acrylic on canvas, the medium supports opaque, saturated passages and clearly bounded shapes. Subtle streaking visible within larger areas prevents the sun and background from reading as entirely flat graphic fields. This painting is particularly useful for considering shifts of scale: a transient, lightweight creature becomes the composition’s largest structure, while the sunset is compressed into a red circle and narrow horizon.
