The Shark is a handcrafted stainless steel sculpture that captures the power and movement of the animal through striking geometric forms. Individually cut metal elements are TIG-welded by hand to create a three-dimensional composition with sharp lines and depth. The polished surface is enhanced by heat-induced oxidation, creating distinctive blue tones in the stainless steel. Its angular surfaces reflect light differently as the viewing angle changes, bringing the sculpture to life. Available with or without LED lighting, the sculpture makes a bold statement in contemporary interiors. Dimensions: 120 × 45 cm.
Why collect this work?
A streamlined silhouette keeps the shark immediately legible, while faceted planes and abrupt colour divisions replace naturalistic anatomy with an image of concentrated speed.
- The artist profile identifies Iliq Hristov as a self-taught Bulgarian metal artist and founder of DK MetalArt. His stated pursuit of vitality in rigid steel is tested here through the shark’s taut profile and swept fins.
- In the photograph, a long horizontal body narrows toward the pointed snout and sharply forked tail. Turquoise passages at the eye, gills and underside punctuate the dark mass, directing attention along its length.
- Catalogue metadata records TIG-welded stainless steel with a polished, heat-coloured finish. Welding joins angular elements into a three-dimensional figure; the reflective facets can register changing light and viewpoint, while heat colouring establishes the blue accents.
- Measuring 120 by 45 centimetres, the sculpture provides a focused comparison between instant animal recognition and visibly segmented construction. Its compressed side view also links sculptural volume to the conventions of an emblem or silhouette.
