Bisola Abdulrasheed Explore Mondoir Studio Nationality: Nigerian Artistic discipline: textile Based in: Ibadan, NG BiographyMy name is Bisola Abdulrasheed, a Nigerian contemporary thread artist based in Oyo State. I hold a B.Tech in Fine and Applied Arts from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, where I majored in painting. My artistic journey began with painting and gradually evolved into working with nails and yarn, a medium through which I found a distinctive way to translate human emotions and experiences into visual narratives. Today, my practice explorers, womanhood, and the lived experiences of women and the girl child through bold thread portraits and installations. Artist StatementMy practice explores womanhood, resilience, vulnerability, and the quiet experiences carried by women and the girl child. Working primarily with nails and yarn, I transform individual strands into layered portraits that speak to African experiences. I am drawn to facial expressions, gestures, and the emotions that exist between what is spoken and what remains unspoken. Thread functions as both material and metaphor in my work. Each strand can hold a memory, connection, burden, wound, or untold story. Through deliberate stretching and layering, I examine how personal experiences accumulate and shape the way we carry ourselves. My work gives form to overlooked emotions surrounding girlhood, motherhood, strength, silence, vulnerability, and survival. Exhibitions+234artfair, Lagos Nigeria.
