I’m Bharathi, a self-taught digital artist from India whose journey with art began in early childhood. Drawn to cartoons and animation, I started sketching what I saw on television and in school textbooks at a young age. Encouraged by teachers and classmates, art quickly became a natural form of expression for me. At twelve, I created my first portrait of my parents—an experience that deeply affirmed my connection to creating. Life, however, demanded difficult choices. Financial limitations made formal art or animation training impossible, and responsibilities related to education, work, marriage, and motherhood gradually pushed art into the background. For over fourteen years, my creative practice was paused, though the desire to create never disappeared. That pause ended with encouragement from my husband and son, who urged me to return to art on my own terms. In 2023, I joined X (Twitter) and re-entered the creative world through digital art, inspired by early digital culture and the iconic CryptoPunks. During this period, I launched two digital collections Fashion Punks and Retro Punks exploring character design, nostalgia, and personal memory through a contemporary digital lens. Today, my practice focuses on geometric abstract digital art. Using limited tools, including only a mobile phone, I explore emotion, balance, and inner landscapes through form, color, and structure. My work reflects resilience, interrupted dreams, and the quiet power of returning to oneself through creation.
