Biography

Aleksandra Koblova is an artist working in painting and photographic compositions. A self-taught artist, she develops a visual language of biophilic magical realism, exploring silence, trust, and the relationship between humans and nature. In 2025, she held a solo exhibition Stance Matters at Address Beach Resort (Dubai) in collaboration with Erickson UAE. She has participated in group exhibitions: — Cats Exhibition, Alserkal Avenue, Dubai; — A Story in Turquoise, Dubai; — International Women’s Day Art Exhibition, Dubai; — Restless, Southampton, United Kingdom; — Radiant Horizons, Sfumato online exhibition. Major art projects: — a painting series created during a round-the-world journey (magical realism, with humans and animals reflecting one another); — Birds of Eden (in development): photographic compositions about migrant women in the UAE, created without the use of AI; — Metaphorical Stones for the Erickson Coaching International Conference — 80 symbolic art objects for international participants. Previously, she worked in photography and created design collections presented in Thailand and Russia. Before dedicating herself to art, she served as Head of the Legal Department at a major corporation in Moscow, overseeing high-level legal cases.

Artist Statement

Aleksandra Koblova’s visual language is intentionally minimalist and free of fixed cultural markers. Her female figure has no face, and skin color is not defined — allowing the image to remain open and inclusive, reflecting the universality of human experience beyond nationality, language, or origin. Through reduced form and limited information, her works invite viewers to recognize themselves within the image, regardless of cultural context. Her practice approaches art as a space of restoration and care — a response to emotional overload and the fragility of contemporary experience. Rejecting the language of shock and trauma, Koblova focuses instead on silence, conscious choice, and inner balance. Within this space, biophilia is not a theme but a relationship: an emotional connection between humans and nature as a source of safety, presence, and trust. The female figure in her work exists as a subject of soft power — not dominating, but holding space. Slowness and attention become deliberate gestures, offering resistance to overstimulation. Koblova works with environmentally conscious materials, using acrylic paints and linen canvases, while also giving a second life to previously used canvases through repainting and transformation, including on synthetic supports. This approach reflects her commitment to care, sustainability, and mindful engagement with materiality. Her works are created in series, each functioning as a visual form of thinking rather than isolated images. Seriality allows deeper exploration of states and recurring motifs. Animals appear as symbols of nature — seemingly fragile yet carrying profound inner strength. Their presence conveys supportive, life-sustaining energy, particularly significant within a feminine context, affirming intuition, resilience, and embodied presence. Koblova’s works offer viewers a space for slowing down, restoration, and a bodily sense of safety. The biophilic qualities of her imagery — natural forms, gentle color palettes, and rhythmic composition — support emotional regulation and balance, a connection supported by scientific research on biophilia. In a time of rapid change and uncertainty, her art seeks to generate joy and support equilibrium. These works function as “emotional vitamins for the soul,” resonating equally within contemporary galleries, workplaces, and private interiors — quiet reminders of clarity, softness, and trust in life.
