HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan by Elnaz Asgharzadeh Explore Mondoir Collection Medium: Oil on Canvas Dimensions: 184 x 182 cm Year: 2024 Price on request Status: available Why collect this work?A tightly frontal likeness uses near symmetry and concentrated facial detail to turn an individual portrait into a formal image of commemoration. The artist profile describes Asgharzadeh as a practitioner and teacher of hyperrealistic oil painting. Here, that approach supports recognition and ceremonial clarity rather than an informal study of character. The face occupies the centre of the nearly square field, with the shoulders and white headdress forming a broad, symmetrical silhouette. Wrinkles, individual beard hairs and direct eye contact intensify scrutiny, while enlarged Arabic letterforms remain subdued in the olive background.Catalogued as oil on canvas, the work uses smooth tonal transitions and sharply differentiated facial marks. These capacities allow the pale fabric, dark agal and modelled skin to remain distinct within a restricted composition.Dated 2024 and titled for Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the painting can be encountered as a contemporary commemorative portrait, prompting consideration of how realism, scale and frontal address construct the public image of leadership.
