  • Statement

Ibragim Valikhodjaev, an esteemed artist-painter and the chairman of the Union of Artists of Uzbekistan, skillfully captures the essence of his contemporaries' lives in his compelling works. Through vivid and harmonious colours, his canvases portray characterful figures engaged in everyday activities, beautifully highlighting various facets of ordinary life. With each brushstroke, Ibragim brings to life the vibrant scenes of local markets and the cultural richness of his beloved Uzbekistan.

Born into a simple family of the builder Mutalli, Ibragim showed a passion for painting from a young age. He diligently painted landscapes and still lives on the walls of houses his father built, laying the foundation for his future artistic endeavours.

After being accepted into the easel department of the Tashkent Theater and Art Institute at the age of 28, Ibragim embarked on his journey into the world of art. Mastering the basics of academic art education, he began to develop his unique creative style, characterized by a departure from strict realism towards stylized forms and bold colour choices.

Ibragim's talent quickly garnered attention, and he held his first personal exhibition while still a student at the Institute. His works, often focusing on the theme of the oriental bazaar, received widespread acclaim for their vibrant colours and lively compositions.

Over the years, Ibragim's artistic style has evolved, moving towards greater stylization and abstraction. He embraces warm colours, using them to convey the character of his native land and its people. His recent works exhibit a departure from reality, with figures and landscapes becoming increasingly stylized and generalized.

As the chairman of the Union of Artists of Uzbekistan and an Academician of the Academy of Arts, Ibragim Valikhodjaev continues to make significant contributions to the world of art.
